One year with Punjab: Minister Aman Arora presents report card of his departments

Chandigarh, March 18 :- 

Highlighting the one-year achievements of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government, New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Aman Arora said that no previous government had worked with such dogged commitment like AAP performed in first year by taking myriad of pro-people decisions for the welfare of common people.

Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, the Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that Mann government will construct 25,000 houses for people from economically weaker sections in a phased manner, which has been ignored by the successive governments.

He said that the government has also implemented the affordable housing policy in Punjab to provide affordable housing to lower-middle income and lower-income families, and revive the real estate sector in the state. He said that there are 14,000 illegal colonies in the state, which came due to nefarious policies of previous governments but Mann government crackdown against them.

The Cabinet Minister said the green hydrogen policy as part of its energy transition plan will be formulated soon, aiming to reduce fossil fuel usage by utilising stubble that will increase the income of farmers. He said that the state produces 20 million tons of stubble and 12 million still remain unutilised and with this project, stubble will become an assert than a liability.

He said that with persistent efforts by the Mann government in last one year, the paddy straw burning incidents were reduced by approximately 30%. To engage farmers by providing various possibilities and solutions to eliminate this practice of burning paddy straw Rs.350 crore allocated under the Sub-Mission on Agriculture Mechanism, to provide various machines/equipment.

Listing other achievements of the Mann government in the first year, the Cabinet Minister said that Mann government repaid Rs. 36,000 crores of debt (Rs. 16,000 Crores Principal Rs. 20,000 Interest). He slammed  previous governments for taking loans at a very high interest rates thereby accruing large interest component
He said that over 10.50 lakh patients have received free treatment in Mohalla clinics since their inception. 26,797 jobs successfully generated in Government and its agencies by AAP Government.

Fulfilling its major poll-promises within one-year, Mann government is providing 300 free electricity units and almost 90% of Punjab’s households are now getting zero electricity bill.
Minister Arora said that Rs.2,000 crore spent by AAP Government for bailing out Punjab Agriculture Development Bank, PUNSUP and Punjab Agro; infusion of capital in District Cooperative Banks; provisioning grant to MILKFED and financing mills and SUGARFED to pay our hard working cane growers on time.

He said that the government also showed its commitment to our officers, employees and pensioners by releasing 6% DA from October 2022, implementing UGC pay-scales and the 2nd National Judicial Pay Commission.
