— ADC Daman Mann Asks the MCs to keep joint visit of Identified sites with ESI Authorities
— 100 Bedded Hospital to cater the labourers and other ESI beneficiaries in the region

As per the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann to set up an ultra modern ESI hospital at Derabassi, the district administration led by deputy commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain has started work on materializing the proposal on ground.
A district level committee comprising Deputy Commissioner as Chairperson while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development), Director ESI, Regional Director ESI and Eexecutive Officers of Derabassi and Lalru MCs as members has identified three sites at Derbassi and two sites at Lalru for the purpose.

In a meeting held today at District Administrative Complex Mohali, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Damanjit Singh Mann discussed the pre-identified sites with the North Zone Medical Commissioner and Regional Director of the ESI and requested them to make a joint visit to these sites before coming Wednesday to reach on a consensus as per the prescribed guidelines by the Government of India to set up an ESI Hospital.
He said the preference should be given to the Derabassi as per the road connectivity, easy approach and surrounding industrial area. The ESI Authorities said that they need about 8 acres of land to build an Ultra Modern 100 Bedded to cater the health needs of the labourers and other ESI beneficiaries of the region. They said they have also an ESI Hospital at Mohali in Phase 7, Mohali but its capacity is 30 bedded only and the load of patients demands a secondary level ultra modern Health facility to facilitate the poor strata of the ESI beneficiaries.
They further said that the sites offered by the administration at Derabassi and Lalru would be visited before coming Wednesday afternoon meeting to finalise the site.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain added that the District Administration is committed to do the needful so that ESI beneficiaries could not suffer for viable treatment. She said that as per the demand of Derabassi Cluster Industrialists, the Chief Minister had announced to provide land for the setting up of the ESI Hospital in the interest of Employees registered with Employees’ Insurance Scheme Corporation.
ADC Damanjit Singh Mann said that the site would be finalized keeping in mind its approach from Highway and nearby Bus Stand so that the beneficiaries could not travel more for getting the treatment.
The officers who attended the meeting included Dr Vandana Nongrum, Zonal Medical Commissioner, ESI North Zone, Rakesh Kumar Regional Director ESI, Rajeev Kumar Dixit Executive Engineer ESI, Dr Rajiv Chhabra State Medical Officer ESI, Dr Harpreet Kaur Dhaliwal SMO InCharge ESI Mohali and Executive Officers of MC Derabassi and Lalru, Varinder Kumar Jain and Gurbakshish Singh Sandhu respectively.
