A mock poll on five percent of the EVMs would be conducted on November 2, 2023, said the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs Aashika Jain ,here, today.
She was reviewing the first level checking of Electronic Voting Machines that was scheduled from October 16 to November 4 at the warehouse of District Election Office at District Administrative Complex, SAS Nagar, Mohali.
Interacting with the engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore, she expressed satisfaction over the work of first level Checking. The engineers’ team apprised the DC of the work done so far. The Deputy Commissioner said that as per the progress of the FLC conducted so far, a total of 1193 Control units out of total 1247 besides 1705 Ballot Units out of total 2140 have been done. Similarly, out of 1290 VVPATs, 1232 units have been examined so far.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that the first level Checking would be completed by Wednesday evening. After that, Mock Poll on 5 percent of the FLC done machines will be conducted on November 2, in the presence of political parties. Out of these, one percent machines would under go 1200 votes during mock polling besides two percent each 1000 and 500 votes respectively. The machines would be chosen randomly from the list offered to the political parties to maintain transparency.
She was accompanied by ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, SDM Mohali Chandrajyoti Singh, Supervising officer Kiran Sharma (Joint Commissioner MC Mohali) and Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar.
