Punjab Pollution Control Board officials have busted an illegal plastic carry bags manufacturing unit in Derabassi Sub Division.
Divulging the details, Environment Engineer, SAS Nagar, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Gursharan Dass said that during a surprise inspection carried out by the PPCB team, found an illegal factory in the Bhagwanpura area of Derabassi that was manufacturing banned plastic carry bags. He said that as per PPCB rules framed in 2018 to ban the use of plastic carry bags, there is a complete ban on the use and manufacturing of carry bags in the state barring the packaging material without handles.
During the inspection, 200 Kilograms of banned plastic carry bags were confiscated, said Arshdeep Singh SDO, PPCB.
Further action against the defaulting industry has been initiated by the PPCB, added Environment Engineer Gursharan Dass.
