Kharar/SAS Nagar, December 16:
Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Anmol Gagan Mann said that the historical city Kharar will be transformed into a model city with a total facelift soon.
Addressing a gathering after visiting Maharaja Ajj Sarovar’s ongoing development work being executed by the Tourism Department, she assured the Shree Ram Mandir Maharaja Ajj Sarovar Vikas Samiti office bearers that the historical Sarovar would be developed as a source of spiritual inspiration as well as a heritage tourism destination.
She said that the earlier proposed height of the Statue of Bhagwan Ram Chander Ji would be enhanced from 18 to 118 feet so that every passerby can have a glimpse of it from the National Highway flyover crossing from the Kharar City. The statue would be a replica of the same installed at Ayodhya, she further added.
Apart from the religious point of view development of this place, it would also be developed as a recreational activities centre for kids and other people by setting up here a restaurant, fountains, heritage lights, 10 boats in the water of sarover, welcome signboards to attract the tourists, plantation of flowers and decorated trees, Open Gym, Roller Coaster, Toy-train etc.
Terming Kharar as her Political Birth Place, the Minister further said that she will always remain indebted to the residents of Kharar for giving her political recognition. She said that now it’s her duty towards the residents of Kharar to pay back honesty and diligently by overall development of this historical city. She said a beautiful and giant Welcome Gate, heritage look of markets, cleanliness of the city besides the disposal of Darpan city dump are her main agendas.
She said that the 100 crore surface water project (from Kajauli) has already been started last week. The construction of a new bus stand that could not see the light of the day for the last many years, has been cleared by the CM S. Bhagwant Singh Mann a few days back.
She further said that a town planner is being hired to give the city a new look besides hiring a solid waste management company for disposal of the waste.
The prominent persons present there included SDM Gurmandar Singh, DSP Karan Singh Sandhu, EO MC Kharar Manvir Singh Gill, Shree Ram Mandir Maharaja Ajj Sarovar Vikas Samiti office bearers Sudarshan Verma, Ashok Sharma, J P Dhiman and Shashi Pal Jain, Ram Swarup and Vineet Jain Bittu (both Councillors) and Hakam Singh.
