Dealing a major blow to the cross-border drug smuggling gang during the ongoing war against drugs on the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Police on Monday arrested two key persons in the inter-state drug smuggling racket . has been exposed. 10 kg of opium was recovered from their possession .
Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has identified the arrested drug smugglers as Pishaura Singh and Arjodh Singh alias Jodha, both residents of village Boparae Madal , police station Sadar Patti , Tarn Taran.
Apart from seizing the opium, the police teams have also seized his Swift car ( PB04 V 1299) , in which he was going to supply the consignment of opium.
CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the arrested accused have bought opium from a person in Imphal , Manipur and on the basis of reliable information that they are going to deliver it to someone, DCP Harpreet Mander , ADCP City -3 Abhimanyu Rana came. A police team of CIA Staff -3 under the supervision of PS , ACP East Gurinderbir Singh conducted a special operation on the basis of secret information and arrested the two accused when they were waiting for someone to deliver the opium consignment. were
He said that according to preliminary investigation, he has bought opium from a person from Imphal , Manipur.
CP Bhullar said that further investigations are underway to check the backward and forward links and expose the entire network of drug suppliers , dealers and their buyers. He said that efforts are being made to ascertain the total quantity of drugs purchased by the arrested accused so far.
Arrested Pishaura Singh already has two drug cases registered in District Tarn Tarn.
A case FIR no. 01 dated 01.01.2024 by NDPS. 18 of the Act , 29/61/85 and registered at Police Station Makbulpura , Amritsar.

In a big blow to trans-border narcotic smuggling cartel amidst the ongoing war against drugs on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police on Monday busted an inter-state drug smuggling cartel with the arrest of two key persons after recovering 10 KG Opium from their possession.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has identified the arrested drug smugglers as Pishora Singh and Arjodh Singh @ Jodha both residents of Village Boparai Maadal, PS: Sadar Patti, Tarn Taran.
Apart from seizing Opium, Police teams have also impounded his Swift Car (PB04 V 1299), in which they were going to supply the Opium consignment.
CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that following reliable inputs that arrested accused have procured Opium from a person in Imphal, Manipur and they are going to deliver it to someone, Police teams from CIA Staff-3 under supervision of DCP Harpreet Mandher, ADCP CITY-3 Abhimanyu Rana IPS and ACP East Gurinderbir Singh conducted a special operation based on secret information and arrested both the accused persons when they were waiting for someone to deliver consignment of Opium.
He said that as per preliminary investigations, they have procured Opium from a person of Imphal, Manipur.
CP Bhullar said that further investigations are being conducted to probe the backward and forward linkages and unearth the entire network of drug suppliers, dealers and their buyers. Efforts are being made to ascertain the total amount of narcotics procured by the arrested accused till date, he added.
Further, accused Pishora Singh has criminal background and two narcotics cases are already registered against him in District Tarn Taran.
A case FIR no. 01 dated 01.01.2024 has been registered under sections 18, 29/61/85 of the NDPS Act and at Police Station Maqboolpura in Amritsar.

Regarding taking the dead body of the deceased prisoner Baason Singh son of Gurdayal Singh
Amritsar 1 January 2024–
Prisoner Baaal Singh son of Gurdayal Singh aged about 57 years , height 5’11” Rang Sawla, resident of Saifalabad , Police Station Fattudhiga , District Kapurthala, who is under Case No. 158 dated 08.09.2005 Section 377,302 IPC Police Station Jhabal District Tarn Taran Hon’ble Court On 21.12.2006 the order of life imprisonment was passed by Mr. GS Sandhu Additional Sessions Judge , Amritsar and the said prisoner was serving the sentence in Central Jail, Amritsar.
The said prisoner died on 30.12.2023 and his dead body is in Dead House Guru Nanak Dev Hospital , Amritsar. When contacted at the said address of the said dead prisoner from the Fattudhiga police station , Kapurthala, his heirs refused to take the body of the said prisoner and they said in their statement that we have not interfered with him.
