SDMs asked to arrange Special camps for receiving voter forms in nearby Gurdwaras

District Election Officer Mrs Ashika Jain held a meeting to review the progress of enrollment of voters for Gurdwara Board Elections, with SDMs, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars today. She made it clear that according to the new schedule issued by the Gurdwara Election Commissioner, the registration in the voter list has to be done only till 29 February 2024, while voters have submitted very few forms,so far.
She urged the aspirants to become voters for the gurdwara elections to reach the special camps scheduled to be held in their nearby gurdwaras by concerned SDMs on pre-sheduled dates She said that the Sikh population in the district is sizable, so it should be ensured that the maximum number of voters are registered for the elections of the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee (Gurdwara Board Elections). The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the general public that every eligible voter should take advantage of this opportunity to submit their forms to the Halka Patwari or concerned Officer.
She informed that the claims/objections on the preliminary published voter list will be received by April 11 and the final date of publication of voter lists will be done on May 3, 2024. She said that any eligible voter who wants to register his/her name in the voter list for Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Elections (Board) should submit Form No. 1 with the concerned Halka Patwari in rural areas and Municipal Corporation/Nagar Council or Local Authority in urban areas. Officers (SDMs) who have been appointed as Revising Authority Officers can also get the forms in their offices. She said that applicants who fulfill all the conditions under Rule No. 3 of Sikh Gurdwara Board Rules 1959 can fill and submit Form No. 1 only.
The District Election Officer said that if the applicant completes 21 years of age or above on 21st October 2023, needs to attach his/her latest self-attested photograph, self-declaration in Form No. 1 besides any one proof be it Aadhaar Card, Voter’s Card, Passport, Driving License, Service Identity Card with Photograph, Bank or Post Office Passbook with Photograph, PAN Card, Smart Card, RGI card of National Population Registered, MGNREGA Job Card, Health Insurance Smart Card, Pension Document with Photograph, or any official identity proof issued to MP/MLA/MLC shall attach as the official identity card etc.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Viraj S Tidke, SDM Chandrajyoti Singh Mohali and Himanshu Mahajan Derabassi, Tehsildar Elections Sanjay Sharma, Tehsildar Kuldeep Singh Mohali, Jaswinder Singh Kharr, Kuldeep Singh Derabassi, Naib Tehsildar Jasvir Kaur Majri, Ravinder Singh Mohali were present in the meeting. , Harinderjit Singh Derabassi and other officials were present.
