Chandigarh, November 3 – Haryana Cooperation Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal while inaugurating the 64th crushing season of Panipat Sugar Mill today said that crushing of sugarcane will start in all Cooperative Sugar Mills of the state by the next week.
Besides this, efforts have also been made to increase the target of sugar mills this time. The farmers of Panipat district will receive the gift of new sugar mill, which will have a capacity of 5,000 TCD after March. The construction of this sugar mill will benefit Panipat district as well as other adjoining districts. The crushing capacity in this newly constructed sugar mill will be 50,000 quintals per day.
He said that Panipat Sugar Mill is the only sugar mill in Haryana where both old and new technologies have been used. This sugar mill has received national and state level awards several times, but this season will be the last crushing season of this mill. The new sugar mill will soon be ready in village Dahar in Panipat. The crushing capacity of this Sugar Mill will be many times more than the old sugar mill.
He told the farmers that on the advice of sugarcane experts, farmers should plant high quality sugarcane in their fields and come to the Sugar Mill only with clean sugarcane. He said that while the farmers contribute in making the sugar mill’s crushing season a success, the cooperation of officers and employees of the Sugar Mill has also been remarkable. Therefore, officers and employees of sugar mill should be given all facilities on the basis of their seniority.
The Cooperation Minister said that Panipat Sugar Mill is an Old Sugar Mill set up in the year 1956-57. The construction of the new sugar mill has been delayed due to the Corona pandemic, but officers and employees are working to complete this work, so the next crushing season will be at the new sugar mill itself.
