In a united front against cervical cancer, the Phulkari Women of Amritsar are joining hands with the esteemed DC Office to orchestrate a pivotal awareness session, commencing a steadfast campaign against this pervasive health concern.
It’s crucial to note that January is internationally recognized as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. This awareness initiative seeks to establish the color teal as universally recognized for cervical cancer, similar to the symbolism of pink for breast cancer.
Set to take place on Thursday, January 11th, 2024, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at The DC Office, the forthcoming session, titled Conquer Cancer Awareness Session #89, endeavors to shed light on the intricacies of cervical cancer, emphasizing the criticality of early detection and prevention.
Dr. Rashmi Vij led a compelling presentation during the event. The gathering was also marked by the proactive distribution of Teal bands, emblematic of resilience and unity in the battle against cervical cancer.
This event serves as a testament to Phulkari’s unyielding dedication over the past seven years. With 88 seminars/webinars and 10 screening camps, they’ve influenced over 4,61,700 individuals, screening 1207 women and vaccinating 22 girls.
The Conquer Cancer Team expresses deep gratitude for the unwavering support and active participation of the district administration. With the proactive leadership of Sh. Ghanshyam Thori, DC Amritsar, driving the government team, their assistance has been invaluable.
“We envision a Punjab liberated from the clutches of cervical cancer. This awareness month, our aim is to establish the color teal as synonymous with cervical cancer awareness, akin to the association of pink with breast cancer,” affirmed the President of Phulkari WOA, Aarti Khanna
Acknowledgment is also extended to the dynamic program heads Priyanka Goyal & Milli Luthra for their unwavering commitment to this noble cause.
