Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya has sanctioned the allocation of Rs 200 crore under Kayakalp scheme for the improvement of roads of urban bodies in the state. Departmental Minister Shri Vijayvargiya has directed that the amount allocated to the civic bodies should be delivered soon. Commissioner Urban Development Shri Bharat Yadav has asked the officials of urban bodies to prioritize road maintenance within their jurisdictions.
Departmental minister had given instructions in the meeting
Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, during the review of departmental schemes in Bhopal recently, had instructed the officials to ensure that citizens in urban areas get quality basic facilities. He said that the roads in the urban areas should be according to the expectations of the general public. Minister Shri Vijayvargiya has said that road construction should be undertaken on priority in the bodies where approval has been given under Kayakalp scheme. Under the Kayakalp scheme of the department, an amount of Rs 200 crore has been approved. Earlier, an amount of Rs 350 crore had been released by the department under Kayakalp Scheme.
Amount of Rs 226.74 crore for salary and honorarium in civic bodies
In the meeting, Urban Development Minister Shri Vijayvargiya had given instructions to the departmental officers to ensure that the employees working in the civic bodies continue to get regular salaries and honorarium. The department has transferred an amount of Rs 226 crore 74 lakh as octroi compensation to the urban bodies. Minister Shri Vijayvargiya has given instructions to utilize this amount for the right purpose. Minister Shri Vijayvargiya had met representatives of urban areas during his recent visit to the state. During this period, he learnt about problems regarding salary and honorarium. It is in this context that this amount has been released. There are a total of 413 urban bodies in the state. Of these, the number of Municipal Corporations is 16, Municipal Councils are 99 and the number of City Councils is 298.
