Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Friday, in a unique initiative, held a meeting with the doctors in Jalandhar. Mann said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has brought the health revolution in Punjab and Delhi.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s wife Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann was also present in this event. Mann shared that through her he knows how demanding this profession is. He said that many of his friends are doctors and he knows on times it is a thankless job too when doctors fail to save a patient. He also listened to the problems of doctors and the people of the medical field.

Addressing the doctors CM Mann promised to bring medical tourism to Punjab, particularly to Jalandhar. Mann said that for one it will take our medical and health sector to new levels and two, it will give our NRI community a chance to get treatment near their homes. Mann said that now the south has medical tourism in India, but the AAP government of Punjab has big plans for the health sector. He said that they are already building two big hospitals and medical Colleges in Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala. In Sangrur the medical college’s land issue will be solved soon too. He said that they are also bringing new community centres in Punjab.

Mann said that the AAP’s mohalla clinics scheme proved to be a revolutionary step in the health sector. He said that delegates from foreign countries come to Delhi to see mohalla clinics. He said that through Aam Aadmi clinics in Punjab his government has generated employment for youth too. Four to five experts run a mohalla clinic. Mann said that doctors of PGI are overworked, it handles patients from four states: Jammu, Punjab, Himachal, Haryana plus patients of Chandigarh. He said that Punjab needs to be developed as a medical hub and during the war of Russia and Ukraine when thousands of our medical students were stranded in Ukraine, then I felt this need even strongly.

Mann said that the politics is not bad, it’s just the number of bad people in it that is the problem. He said that everything in your life is decided by politics, even what you eat for dinner, so don’t run away from it, take an active part in the politics, bring change. He said that he is delighted to share that youth comes to him and joins the AAP everyday.
