Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav today reviewed the work of under construction steel bridge which is being built over the Sirhind Canal near Nehru Stadium at Ropar, where she ordered the completion of the work will be done at the earliest.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials of the department and the representatives of the company to complete this construction as soon as possible so that this bridge can be opened for the people.
She said that the National Highways Department has issued a notice of imposition of penalty due to the delay in the construction of the steel bridge, regarding which the final decision will be taken by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Although, Rs 2.91 crore deducted so far from payment made to M/S S.P. Singla construction Pvt Ltd.
Giving details about bridge, Executive Engineer National Highway Division, Rupnagar Sandeep Kumar informed that construction of the 135 meter long steel bridge will cost a total of Rs 52.77 crore which will be opened for traffic within three months.
He further said that length of bridge is 135 meters while the total length of the project is 285 meters which will be 4-laned and 1.5 meters wide footpath is also being constructed on it.
He said that the construction of this steel bridge is being monitored by the higher authorities of National Highways department, in view of which the department has recommended imposition of penalty against the construction company and payment has been deducted.
