Government imposes stock limit on onions to curb price rise
Jaipur, December 4
The Food and Civil Supplies Department, Government of Rajasthan on December 3, 2020 issued orders to fix
stock limit of onion traders to prevent hoarding of and to reduce the price of onions. ‘Onion’ has been appended in Schedule II of The Rajasthan Trade Articles (Licensing and Control) Order, 1980 on item
number 8. The stock limit as per the Government of India notification is applicable on traders in regard to onion, which is 25 metric tonne for wholesalers and 2 metric tonne for retailers. This stock limit will remain
effective till December 31, 2020.
The department has written to District Collectors and District Supply Officers to check the stock limit.
