Dushyant Chautala directs officers to ensure proper utilization of the funds allocated under MGNREGA

Chandigarh, December 17: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala directed the officers to ensure the proper utilization of the funds allocated under MGNREGA, by implementing the respective schemes within the stipulated time-frame so that the people can receive the benefits that they are entitled to. He directed the officers to submit the completion certificate timely to the Directorate on completion of the development works.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of the Development & Panchayats Department, said this while presiding over a review meeting regarding work being done by the Department under MGNREGA.

Principal Secretary, Development & Panchayats Department, Sudhir Rajpal, Director, Rural Development Department, Hardeep Singh, OSD of Deputy Chief Minister, Kamlesh Bhadu, and other officers were present during the meeting. CEOs from various districts were also connected through video conferencing.

The Deputy Chief Minister took stock of the districts from the concerned officers where the development work under MGNREGA has not picked up pace. He directed to provide employment to the people under MGNREGA scheme in every village of the state.

Dushyant Chautala said that the target given under the MGNREGA has been completed by the department ahead of time. He said that 140 lakh working days were fixed for the year 2020-21, out of which 125 lakh working days have been completed by November 2020, which is 90 percent of the total work. In the previous year 2019-20, 91.19 lakh working days were fixed for the work to be done under MGNREGA.

He said that the officers have been directed to expedite the construction work of cattle-sheds to be made under MNREGA for the animals of the poor on a priority basis in view of the severe cold. He directed to get 10,000 sheds constructed by January 15, 2021.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the pending works to be done under MGNREGA should be sent to the headquarters within a week for approval so that these works can be started before the code of conduct for the upcoming Panchayat-election is implemented.
