Chandigarh, March 27:

Ms. Vini Mahajan (IAS) Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab spoke on building partnership and mutual cooperation among ITEC nations during the valedictory ceremony of 5 day 8th e-International Public Health Management Development Program (e-IPHMDP) organised by Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh on Friday.

She appreciated this important initiative of PGIMER, Chandigarh in building capacity of senior public health managers on public health management program in overall improving the effectiveness and efficiency of national programs in their respective countries. She told that she has been a part of this program since the day it was conceived. She thanked all the e-ITEC participants for participating and positively contributing to the exchange of ideas, building mutual support and establishing networks for overall benefit of the global society. She appreciated Indian Technical Economic Cooperation, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India for sponsoring 100 participants from 33 nations to this global program which demonstrated country’s premium case practices in managing various health problems including current coronavirus pandemic.

Besides Ms. Vini Mahajan, Prof. Jagat Ram Director, PGIMER , Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, Director (DPA-II), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Dr. Harshad Thakur Director, NIHFW and Prof. Amarjeet Singh, HoD, DCM and SPH were the guest of Honour. Each of them appreciated the program organizers for conducting a very useful, innovative, informative, knowledgeable and interesting program which they can replicate in their settings.

Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, Director (DPA-II), Ministry of External Affairs, appreciated the support of PGIMER in conducting this program for last many years. He told that this program is one of the very popular programs across 161 ITEC nations and has been instrumental in building mutual cooperation among ITEC nations.

Director PGIMER, Prof. Jagat Ram appreciated the dedication of participants who joined this program after overcoming the time barriers. He highlighted the aim of the program, the diverse teaching methodology, the fun activities and best practices taught during the program. He appreciated the Department of Community medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, especially Professor Sonu Goel and his team for conducting this wonderful program and more important sustaining it for 5 years now.

The valedictory ceremony consisted of glimpse of the 5 day program, live feedback session of participant and facilitator and Cultural Extravaganza where participants from 33 countries showcased their cultural heritage. While appreciating the efforts of participants for their intensive hard work and keenness to learn during this program, Dr. Goel, Program Director said that the program has trained over 600 participants from 85 countries. He expressed hope that the participants shall be the brand ambassadors of the program and shall conduct similar programs in their settings.
