Payments worth Rs. 494 crore directly made to farmers during ongoing wheat procurement season: Deputy Commissioner

To ensure timely purchase, lifting and payment formula was being implemented in the district, the district administration had ensured payment of Rs. 494 crore into farmers’ bank accounts during the ongoing wheat procurement.

 Divulging the details Deputy Commissioner Mr. Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that administration was leaving no stone unturned to ensure hassle-free and smooth wheat procurement.

Meanwhile, DFSC Atinder Kaur said that as on April 26, 382430 MT of wheat has arrived in the mandis of the district out of which 359225 MT has been procured by various procurement agencies. She said that out of the wheat procured, 111533 MT were procured by Pungrain, 85758 MT by Markfed, 86122 MT by PUNSUP, 53843 MT by PSWC and FCI procured 21969 MT wheat.

 District Mandi Officer Mr. Jaspal Singh said that in order to ensure smooth procurement and payment of the wheat farmer help desks have also been set up in the offices of the market committees. He appealed the farmers and laborers to take necessary precautions in view of the increasing cases of Corona virus.
