DM Kargil convenes meeting regarding COVID-19 mitigation measures

KARGIL APRIL 27, 2021: In order to discuss measures for devising a multi-pronged strategy to deal with the COVID-19 situation in the district post re-opening of the Zojila Pass, District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner, and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve convened a meeting of the officers of Revenue, Health, Rural Development and other concerned officers at Conference Hall Baroo here today.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil,  Sub Divisional Magistrates of various subdivisions, Chief Medical Officer, Kargil, Tehsildars, Block Development Officers (BDOs), Block Medical Officers (BMOs), Duty Magistrates, Surveillance Team Heads besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that with the opening of the Zojila Pass for vehicular traffic, a huge influx of local and non-local travelers and laborers on an average of around 1000 travelers are expected to enter the district everyday and concrete measures should be taken for sampling, screening, quarantine, and isolation so as to keep the district safe from the spread of COVID-19.

Underlining the need to put in place a seamless surveillance mechanism to segregate the COVID-19 positive, negative, and suspected cases for timely and proper follow up measures, DC Santosh Sukhadeve stressed the SDMs, Tehsildars, BMOs, and other officers concerned to work in tandem and close coordination so as to avoid any adverse situation.

The Deputy Commissioner while appreciating the concerned officers for their notable and dedicated services in effective implementation of COVID-19 mitigation measures in the district last year stated that they have ample amount of experience in dealing with the situation, adding he urged them to work with continued zeal and dedication to keep the district and its people safe from the deadly Coronavirus. He also instructed the Tehsildars and BDOs to convene meetings of BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Nambardars, Village Heads and other responsible people at the village level to keep track of the inbound passengers and laborers from outside.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve said that keeping in view the sudden upsurge of COVID-19 cases in the country, the coming 1 and a half month is going to be very critical, and the need of the hour is to enhance the level of preparedness at every level so as to avoid any possible emergency situation.

The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the officers of Health, Revenue, and other concerned departments to ensure instant and timely sharing of data about the influx of passengers, number of samples collected, sample results, persons in quarantine and isolation besides other related aspects. He also directed the SDMs to set up Covid Control Rooms in their respective jurisdictions to monitor the overall situation.

Meanwhile, the officers also put forth their suggestions to further intensify measures to control the spread of Coronavirus.
