Chandigarh, May 2 – Haryana Government has decided to stop the procurement of wheat in all mandis/procurement centres in view of the exponential surge in the Covid-19 cases for which State Government has imposed complete lockdown till May 9, 2021. Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that during lockdown no procurement of wheat will be initiated in any mandis/procurement centres of the State and no gate pass shall be issued for the same. He said that it is an appeal to all farmers to stay at home and do not step out until it is necessary.
He informed that till May 2, 2021, a total of 83.53 lakh tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis of the State and so far a total of 80.51 lakh tonnes of wheat has been procured. So far 8,639 tonnes of wheat has been procured by the government procurement agencies at the minimum support price.
He informed that till now 9,15,049 J-forms of 4,99,377 farmers have been issued and till May 2, 2021 and an amount of Rs. 9,270 crore has been transferred directly to the account farmers whose crops have been procured.
He added that all concerned are directed that the lifting of the procured wheat should be ensured on daily basis.
