EC Chandan virtually attends 2nd Meeting of State Board for Wildlife of UT Ladakh

 

KARGIL, MAY 10, 2021: Executive Councilor for Wildlife Muhammad Ali Chandan virtually attended the 2nd meeting of the State Board for Wildlife of the Union Territory of Ladakh through video conferencing (VC) which was chaired the Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh Radha Krishna Mathur today.

EC Chandan on the occasion expressed gratitude to the LG Ladakh and appreciated for various steps taken and his personal interest in issuing necessary orders with regard to the enhancement of ex-gratia compensation for livestock loss due to depredation by wildlife and payment of ex-gratia relief for death/injuries caused to the human life on account of man-animal conflict cases.

The Executive Councilor informed the LG Ladakh during the meeting that necessary steps are required to be taken to upgrade the Wildlife Department,  Kargil.

The EC requested the LG to accord due consideration to issues like grant of special package for mitigation of brown bear related conflicts in Kargil, special focus on promotion for brown bear based eco tourism in the district, construction of eco tourism based infrastructure in Kargil, equal allocation of budget under Special Development Package (SDP) for Wildlife and Forest departments in both districts of UT Ladakh, establishment of Natural Resource Institute at Kargil, strengthening of manpower in Wildlife Department Kargil and implementation of Order No: 20 of 2020, dated: 01.02.2020 with regard to enhancement of wages of Wildlife Protection and Forest Department as per previous commitments.
