POONCH, MAY 12, 2021: District Mineral Office Poonch today said that the it was taking every possible measure to keep check on illegal mining.
Responding to a news report appearing in a section of press, the concerned authorities said that despite meager infrastructure and facilities the staff of the department take tough action against the violators as and when anybody found involved.
“Since January 2021, about 142 no of vehicles and machineries have been seized/fined by the District Mineral Office Poonch found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals” the officials said.
They said the Police have also played a major role and seized/challenged many vehicles involved in transportation of banned material under different sections. The Deputy Commissioner has also constituted multi departmental tehsil level committees to act tough against the violators, they added.
