Ludhiana, May 24,2021
With an aim to make Raikot a model subdivision in terms of coverage of Covid inoculation drive, Member Parliament (MP) Dr Amar Singh and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma on Monday pitched for 100 percent vaccination in the entire subdivision in coming days.
Interacting with the prominent people, associations of industrialists, traders, markets, businessmen, NGOs, MCs, religious organisations and others during marathon meetings held with strict adherence to Covid protocols, MP and DC stated that to prevent the third wave of Corona Virus, it is necessitated that maximum population get inoculated before its onset. They said this move would ensure herd immunity among people to diminish the effect of this deadly virus.
They were also accompanied by senior Congress leader Kamil Boparai, Civil Surgeon Dr Kiran Ahluwalia Gill, SDM Dr Himanshu Gupta, besides several others.
MP Dr Amar Singh appealed to people to come forward for the Immunization drive to contain the virus spread. He exhorted them to ensure maximum awareness among people to volunteer for this drive to save precious lives by avoiding the third wave as expected by the experts.
The DC urged the people of Raikot to make this subdivision a model tehsil where all the population was covered under the vaccination drive. He solicited people’s support to make this battle against the virus successful so that many precious lives could be saved by bending the curve.
Both MP and DC asked people to make masks and social distancing mandatory norm of their routine lives even after getting the vaccine.
They said that the vaccine is as effective and safe as an umbrella that saves a person from rain. They told people as an umbrella protects from getting completely wet with rain and similarly vaccine would protect the lives as it reduced the severity of the virus if one contracts the virus after getting jabs.
They also exhorted the gathering to bust the misinformation and myths about the vaccination by playing a proactive role and said their efforts would go in a long way towards building confidence in the general public.
