UDHAMPUR, MAY 29, 2021: Health Counsellor at District Hospital, Udhampur, Kiren has said that maintaining good physical and mental health is key to faster recovery from coronavirus.
“ Many of us are facing challenges that can be stressful and cause strong emotions. Public health actions such as social distancing are necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19 but they can make us feel isolated and lonely and can increase stress and anxiety, which needs to be handled well” she said.
She said that the governments are taking stronger measures to contain the spread of covid -19, self quarantine and the temporary closing of business can also affect normal food related practices. Good nutrition is crucial for health particularly in times when the immune system might need to fight back, she suggested. Though no food or dietary supplements can prevent covid-19 infection, but by maintaining a healthy diet we can keep our immune system strong for fighting the disease, she opined further.
She suggested eating fresh fruits and vegetables. It is always important to practice good food hygiene like keep clean, avoid eating raw food and cook thoroughly. In addition to a healthy diet other lifestyle measures such as exercise and sleep are also vital for maintaining good health and a healthy immune system. She said that physical activity and exercise not only maintain physical and psychological health but also help our body to respond to the negative consequences of several diseases.
