BANDIPORA, JUNE 04, 2021: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday conducted an extensive tour of Bandipora town to inspect the developmental  activities and to review the implementation  of Covid-19 SOPs.
Dr Owais visited  Bandipora market and interacted with the traders  besides reviewing rotational opening of the shops. He expressed satisfaction over the implementation  of guidelines and expressed gratitude to the traders community for cooperating with the administration  in tackling the pandemic.
He called for strict adherence to the Covid-19 SOPs and Vaccination of vulnerable and the targeted population saying it is imperative to minimize the infection of Coronavirus.
While interacting with the traders, he said  the district Administration is working very hard in fighting Covid-19 pandemic and people of the district have extended their cooperation due to which visible decline has been witnessed during the past few days.
Later the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the ongoing macadamization process in the district. He  inspected the ongoing macadamization of Patushai- Degree College road and directed the concerned officers to ensure quality of work is maintained to the highest  standards and also directed them to expedite the pace of work to complete all the macadamization  works well in time while ensuring implementation of all the Covid-19 guidelines.
While briefing media about the Covid-19  situation in the district, Dr Owais said the district witnessed  a visible decline in Covid positive cases but need to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour with more responsibility amid ease in restrictions.
He said there are 804 active positive patients in the district out of which 71 are hospitalized. He said 40 hospitalized  patients are on oxygen support.
The DC said during the second wave of the pandemic, about 2000 tests are being conducted daily.He said the strict implementation of guidelines lead to  decrease in positivity rate below 4 percent and is expected to go down to below two percent in near future.
Dr Owais said the recently established Covid Care Centres in every Panchayat have been made functional and 10 positive patients are admitted in these centres who  don’t have  proper isolation facility at home. He said CCCs are being equipped with oxygen supported beds and 40% CCCs have received concentrators while order has been placed for remaining Centres.
Talking about the ongoing vaccination process,  the DC urged the people to come forward and get vaccinated, which is the safest way to get protection and  help break the chain of coronavirus spread.
He also urged the general public to adopt social distance, wearing proper masks, and maintaining hand hygiene to keep them, their family and the whole surrounding safe from  Covid-19 infection.
