If government is sincere on drugs problem, then should make STF reports public
Why hasn’t Captain taken action against spurious liquor factories busted in his district so far
Chandigarh, June 27,2021-
Lashing out at Captain Amarinder Singh for failing to crackdown on the issue of rampant drug trade in the state and pretending to be benovelent to the people by using different tactics; the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Barnala and Youth Wing state president, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that Captain Amarinder had reneged on his promise to eradicate drugs, made by holding Sri Gutka Sahib before the elections. He said that political willpower was needed more than any new policy to eradicate drugs. Hayer said that the Captain government had been holding the Akalis responsible for this drug trade for a long time, but was refraining from taking any action against them. “In fact, the Akalis and the Congress are running a drug business in the state together, forcing Captain Amarinder Singh not to take action against them,” he added.
Hayer said that Captain Amarinder, who was talking about formulating a national policy on the issue of drugs, should explain what happened to the coordination committee already formed in the North Region. “No meeting of this committee has ever held. If Captain Amarinder Singh was sincere about this matter then the report given to him by the STF should be made public,” he said.
Taking a dig at Captain Amarinder Singh about the deaths due to spurious liquor in Punjab, Hayer said that Captain Amarinder should tell what action he had taken so far on the spurious liquor factories busted in his district. “In fact, Captain Amarinder Singh himself is backing the drug smugglers and his own advisers are involved,” he added. Hayer said that drugs were available in every nook and corner of Punjab at any time and in such a situation; Captain Amarinder Singh was running away from his responsibility by making excuses.
