DC INSPECTS EVM AND VVPAT MACHINES IN THE PRESENCE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF POLITICAL PARTIES

DC REITERATES COMMITMENT TO ENSURE FREE, FAIR AND TRANSPARENT UPCOMING 2022 ASSEMBLY POLLS

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday inspected Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines stored at the warehouse in Punjab Agricultural University.
During the checking, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Varinder Kumar Sharma and other officers besides the representatives of the political parties were also present.
Speaking with the representatives of the political parties during the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner assured them that the district administration is duty-bound to ensure a smooth and hassle-free polling process in Ludhiana during the upcoming 2022 Assembly Elections.
He apprised the political parties that elaborate arrangements have been put in place in Ludhiana by the administration for the purpose.
Sharma said that no stone is being left unturned for ensuring proper security of the warehouse.
In the warehouse, 3240 control units, 87 Ballot Units and 595 VVPAT machines have been stored by the administration.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi, Election Tehsildar Anju Bala and representatives of political parties including Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party and Bhartiya Janta Party.
