The Electoral Literacy Club of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women conducted an online awareness session on the topic ‘Election Commission of India and Its Working’. Ms. Richa, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science was the resource person for this session. In an informative session, Ms. Richa discussed the working of Election Commission of India and highlighted the recent reforms made by it. She also enlightened the participants about the Commission’s role in holding State Assembly Elections in the pandemic time. Keeping in mind the importance of exercising one’s right to vote, Ms. Richa also educated the participants about the facility of online voter registration. An overwhelming number of students i.e. 143 participated in the session.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava expressed appreciation for the consistent efforts of the Electoral Literacy Club of the college for educating the youth about the significance of electoral literacy for a robust democracy. She added that the engagement of youth in democratic processes is imperative for upholding the cherished ideals of democracy.
