Bathinda, August 4 2021
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema has termed Sukhbir Badal’s 13-point agenda as a hoax; accusing him of ignoring the burning issues of Punjab including sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, drug mafia and the farmers issue. Addressing the media at Bathinda, LoP Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA Meet Hayer and MLA Rupinder Kaur Ruby said the people of Punjab were being shown false dreams by the Akali Dal Badal to seize power; however, the reality was that the Badal-Majithia family had been plundering the natural resources and sources of income of Punjab.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that Sukhbir Badal had not even mentioned in his 13-point program to end mafia rule in the state, give justice in case of sacrilege, cancel faulty power purchase agreements and waive the debts of farmers and laborers. He said the drug mafia, transport mafia; cable mafia, sand mafia and liquor mafia in Punjab were all due to the Akali Dal and Sukhbir Badal, which had put a debt of Rs 3 lakh crore on Punjab. “Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Sidhu are leading the mafia rule created by Sukhbir Badal today,” he added.
The LoP further said it was during the rule of Sukhbir Badal that Sri Guru Granth Sahib was desecrated and Sikhs seeking justice were shot dead by unidentified police and the people of Punjab had not received justice in these cases till date. “During the Badal rule, thousands of farmers and laborers committed suicide due to debt and drugs ruined the youth of Punjab. That is why the Akali Dal Badal and Sukhbir Badal have lost the trust of the people of Punjab and no Punjabi believes in any of them and the Akali Badal Dal leaders are not allowed to enter the villages of Punjab,” he added.
Reacting to the announcements of Sukhbir Badal, AAP MLA and Youth Wing state president Meet Hayer said today those who had looted and beaten Punjab for ten years, were talking about saving Punjab today. He said the Badal family occupying the SGPC was charging Rs 15 lakh from the students in its medical colleges while Sukhbir Badal was talking about giving jobs to the people of Punjab. Hayer also demanded that Sukhbir Badal should also announce to issue his bus permits to the general public.
On the occasion, district president (Bathinda Urban) Neel Garg, district president (Bathinda Rural) Gurjant Singh Sivia, Jagroop Singh Gill, Legal Cell state vice president Navdeep Jida, state joint secretary Rakesh Puri, advocate Gurlal Singh, Baljinder Singh Brar, Sukhvir Singh Brar, district youth president Amardeep Singh Rajan, district president Kisan Wing Jatinder Singh Bhalla, district president Ex-Servicemen Wing Baldev Singh, district president Legal Cell advocate Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Paramjit Kaur, Malkit Kaur, Jasveer Kaur, Harjinder Kaur, Rupinder Kaur, Amrit Aggarwal, Mahinder Singh Phulomithi, Baljit Singh Bali, Gobinder Singh, Bhupinder Bansal, Joginder Kaka, Janardhan Mahio, Raghvir Singh, among others were present.
