KARGIL, AUGUST 05, 2021 2021 Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor,LAHDC,Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan visited flood affected areas of Khawos, Choskore Panikhar, Sangrah, and adjacent areas here today.
The CEC was accompanied by the Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abass Razvi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Councillor Parkachik Haji Ghulam Muhammad, Assistant Commissioner Development Ghulam Mohammad, Executive Engineer I&FC Muhammad Hassan, Executive Engineer PHE Subhash Chandra, Executive Engineer Mechanical Division Muhammad Hassan among other concerned officers.
The CEC took stock of on-going work on diversion of water to original paths and various facilities provided to the public in flood affected villages. While interacting with the public at Sangrah, he enquired about the supply of water, electricity, and other daily facilities being provided to the affected population. He assured the public to remove mud from agricultural lands to make them appropriate for cultivation.
CEC Feroz Khan also took stock of the restoration of irrigation canals and khuls to restore them immediately for irrigation. He informed the people that the administration is focusing on cleaning of mud and stone blocks to restore the irrigation canals and instructed the Mechanical Division to deploy stone breakers to ensure removal of huge stones on stream paths.
The Nambardar at Khawos informed the CEC about the blocked irrigation canal where the irrigation water supply has interrupted since 27th July. The CEC assured to provide pipes to pass water until the khul is restored, and said that machines have also reached on the site to restore the canal.
The CEC later visited the families that are accommodated at KDA Building at Choskore as their houses have been damaged in the floods. He took stock of facilities like food, water, electricity and other daily requirements being provided to the inmates.
While speaking to the families, the CEC said that the administration will soon accommodate them to a proper location well before the winter season. He instructed the concerned officers to install water dispenser as submersible pump is already in place at the KDA building compound, and further directed the concerned to ensure doctors’ visit for health check-up of the families at the bungalow.
The CEC visited Faroona and inspected the flood affected areas. He instructed the concerned departments to deploy machines to clean the mud and stones from the agricultural lands. He further instructed to install electric poles for the transmission line to avoid any risk.
At Sangrah, the CEC was informed that the old upper road in the village has been restored by the Beacon and NHIDCL authorities today by setting up of bailey bridge in the area.
Later, the CEC also held a meeting with the concerned officers at Dak Bungalow Sankoo and while inquiring about the status of flood restoration works directed the Mechanical Division and I&FC to ensure completion of the remaining restoration works at the earliest possible time.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Kargil instructed the concerned officers to deploy men and machinery immediately to clear the headwork of irrigation khul at Faroona which has suffered damages during the floods.
Meanwhile, the Sarpanchs, Panchs and locals of Sangrah expressed gratitude to the administration, Beacon and NHIDCL for immediate restoration of the road by setting up of bailey bridge and nallah training works.
The Nambardar and people of Khawos and adjoining villages also thanked the administration for carrying out immediate flood restoration measures to give relief to the affected population.
