Chandigarh, August 27 – Haryana Chief Secretary, Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora directed all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to be prepared to handle any situation that may arise due to the spread of COVID-19 in near future. She further asked them to focus on gap analysis and to rectify shortcomings, if any.

The Chief Secretary asked the Deputy Commissioners to ensure adherence of social distancing norms and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), wearing of masks and asked them to take strict action against those who are violating the norms during agitations. She also asked the Director General of Police to ensure implementation of guidelines vigorously.

The Chief Secretary gave the directions during the meeting of Crisis Coordination Committee (CCC) through video conferencing with the Nodal Officers appointed for COVID-19 and District Deputy Commissioners here today. She gave instructions to focus more on improving testing, contact tracing and clinical management and to lay emphasis on strict monitoring of Containment Zone as well as to increase public awareness activities.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Mr. Rajeev Arora gave a detailed presentation on the present status of COVID-19 across various districts in the state and various comprehensive strategies being adopted to combat its spread.

The Chief Secretary said that the facility of oxygen cylinders and ventilators should be increased in all the medical colleges and COVID Care Centres. Taking steps so as to contain the spread of the highly contagious virus, the Chief Secretary further instructed to set up control rooms and constitute multi-disciplinary teams in every district. Besides, all the multi-disciplinary teams should be headed by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to discuss strategies to deal with serious cases of corona daily. She also gave instructions to appoint nodal advisors in each district. To ensure smooth functioning she instructed all the officers to ensure complete coordination between the Municipal Corporation and Health Department to contain the spread of COVID-19. She further asserted that the supply of essential medicines should be ensured in all hospitals so that patients can get medicines.

The Chief Secretary further added that the Haryana has performed better than other states in COVID-19 crisis which is evident in the high recovery rate but the officers cannot be complacent. The Chief Secretary said that the condition of those patients who are on oxygen and ventilator should be monitored regularly in COVID Hospitals. Along with this, the condition of patients in home isolation should also be monitored at regular intervals so that in case of any emergency, they can be immediately rushed to hospitals. To ensure this the ambulance service in all the districts should be on alert. She laid special emphasis on tracing, tracking, testing and treatment to contain the spread of COVID-19.

While giving the presentation, Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. Rajeev Arora said that the death rate of infected people in the state is 1.09 percent and the health officers are working to reduce it to 1 percent. He apprised that the prices of the RT-PCR test, Rapid Antigen test and Sero Test have been fixed at Rs 1,600 for RT-PCR, Rs 650 for Rapid Antigen Test and Rs 250 for Sero Test. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that the tests are conducted at the fixed price.

Among others present  in the meeting were Additional Chief  In meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Revenue and Disaster Management and Consolidation Department, Mr. Vijai Vardhan, Additional Chief Secretary Medical Education & Research Department, Mr. Alok Nigam, Chief Executive Officer, Ayushman Bharat Haryana Health Protection Authority, Mr. Ashok Kumar Meena and other officers were also present.
