NCSC issues notice to Punjab government
A video reportedly got viral on social media in which accused were seen misbehaving with the SC family

Taking strong notice of the brutal incident in which a SC couple and their minor daughter were tied with a tree and then sexually harassed in Jalalabad area, the Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Vijay Sampla issued notice to the government of Punjab and asked them to submit immediate action taken report.
As per information received by the NCSC on August 27, a few people from village Ghanga Khurd harassed the couple and their minor daughter. As per information, the trio were tied to a tree and then brutally beaten. After that, the accused sexually harassed the minor girl and her mother. The video of the incident also reportedly got viral on social media.
While asking the officials to intervene into the matter and to ensure justice is provided to the victim family, the Commission sent the notices to the Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab; the Director General of Police, Punjab Police; the Divisional Commission, Ferozpur division; the Inspector General of Police, Ferozpur Range, the Deputy Commission (District Ferozpur) and the Superintendent of Police (District Ferozpur).
The Commission asked the authorities to investigate the matter and to submit an immediate report, through post or email, based on the facts and information on the action taken on the allegation/matter.
Sampla cautioned the officers that if action taken report is not received within the stipulated time, then Commission might exercise the powers of the civil court conferred on it under article 338 of the Constitution of India and issue a summon for personal appearance before the commission in Delhi.
