The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) convoy is increasing day by day in Punjab with eminent personalities joining the party. The AAP gained strength when former Punjab Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Balkar Singh joined the party here on Tuesday. AAP’s Punjab affairs co-incharge and MLA from Delhi, Raghav Chadha formally inducted Balkar Singh into the party fold during a press conference held here. Raghav Chadha said that every section of Punjab was joining the Aam Aadmi Party, be it employees or sportspersons. Welcoming the former police officer, Chadha said that Balkar Singh had served the Punjab Police department for a long time and had served the people of Punjab by doing his duty at various places in Punjab.
He said that Balkar Singh has received national honors from the President of the country for his outstanding services. Chadha said that former police officer Balkar Singh would now do a great service in the field of politics as well. Meanwhile, taking a dig at the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government, Chadha said that the Congress government had jeopardized the future of two lakh Dalit students in the state as they had not paid the fees of these students to the colleges and now these students will not be able to give examinations.
Former DCP Balkar Singh said that he was happy and proud to join the Aam Aadmi Party. Balkar Singh said that he was impressed with the development works and policies of the party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP government in Delhi. “The Delhi government has done a great job for the welfare of poor families, auto and taxi drivers and students,” he added. Promising to support the Aam Aadmi Party in every possible way, Balkar Singh said that the people would be mobilized across the state to form the AAP government in Punjab in 2022. On the occasion, MLA Jai Kishan Singh Rodi, Harminder Bakhshi, Rajwinder Kaur, Olympian Surinder Singh Sodhi, Principal Prem Kumar, Dr Sanjeev Sharma, Janab Suleman Bahri, Pardeep Duggal, Harcharan Singh, Balbir, Darshan Lal, Saravjit, Lucky Randhawa, Raman, Hardwari Lal, Sanjeev Bhagat among other leaders were present.
