-If Chief Minister remains adamant on giving clean chit to the corrupts then we shall lay seige of CM’s farmhouse – Harpal Singh Cheema
Dhaliwal’s role in scam dubious, questions raised over CM’s and Jakhar’s silence
Chandigarh, 8 September 2020
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced to start protest against Congress MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal from Phagwara after his name surfaced in a multi-crore scam in post-matric scholarship scheme for Dalit students along with cabinet minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Leader of the Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema questioned Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Punjab Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar as to what was the compulsion that the Chief Minister and the Punjab Congress President are hell bent to save Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and his entire gang responsible for slaughtering the future of numerous dalit students.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that a documentary investigation by a senior IAS officer had exposed the entire corruption scandal including the gang’s ringleader minister but the stubbornness or helplessness with which Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was reluctant to dismiss Dharamsot raises doubt that a major chunk of misappropriated funds meant for the education of Dalit students might have found it’s place in the Chief Minister’s ‘Moti Mahal’ or Siswan Farm House.
Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema said that it was not possible for the Minister and the Deputy Director to carry out a planned scam of Rs. 64 Crores without the knowledge of Director, department of Social Welfare and Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal was the director at that time.
Cheema announced that the AAP’s ongoing protest in Nabha (which has reached its ninth day today) would continue till strict action and cases are registered against Dharamsot and other corrupt persons and another dharna is being started in Phagwara. If the Chief Minister still insists on giving a ‘clean chit’ to Dharamsot, AAP will besiege the Captain’s farmhouse in the coming days.
Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema demanded that the Central Investigation Team constituted for this scam should work under the supervision of sitting judge of Hon’ble High Court and the role of MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal should also be thoroughly investigated in this case.
