Chandigarh, October 31

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab appealed to the leaders of all opposition parties to participate in the debate called by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on November 1st. AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang and spokesperson Govinder Mittal addressed media on Tuesday evening.

The AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that the leaders of Akali Dal, Congress and BJP are doing press conferences and are making excuses to back out of this discussion. He said that this debate will focus on all the issues of Punjab as mentioned by the chief minister in his tweet. Bhagwant Mann inviting BJP president Sunil Jakhar, Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, PPCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Leader of opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa to come on common platform for debate said that it will unveil all the corrupt who looted Punjab, brothers-nephews, brothers-in-law who prioritised their personal interests. He said that debate will focus on toll plazas, youth, farmers, agriculture, businessmen, waters of Punjab and the words of Guru Sahib.

Kang said that these leaders are trying to run away from this debate because they are not serious about the issues of Punjab. He said that Bikram Majithia, today again in a PC, raised some questions and said that the Mann government in court said that they are ready to construct the SYL canal but opposition parties are not letting them. Kang said that this is a baseless allegation if Akali Dal has any proof where Mann government took any anti-Punjab stand they should bring documents to the debate along with the documents of all property they got in Gurgaon in return of notifying land for SYL in 1978.

Cornering BJP president Sunil Jakhar, Knag said that in 2016 being Congress president Jakhar used to say that the SYL issue can be solved in minutes if the central government wants to. Now being a BJP leader why is he not asking PM Modi to solve issues like SYL, BBMB and Chandigarh. Kang said that the centre plays an important role in all these issues but all these parties don’t want to settle these issues for their political benefits.

On the issue of security in Ludhiana for tomorrow, Kang said that it is the responsibility of the state government to protect all the leaders and people present in this debate and officials are taking necessary measures only. Kang once again appealed to Sunil Jakhar, Sukhbir Badal, Raja Warring and Pratap Bajwa to not find excuses to run away from their accountability and participate in this debate for Punjab.
