ACCOUNTANT OF CIVIL HOSPITAL FAZILKA CONVICTED & SENTENCED RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT FOR FIVE YEARS WITH FINE OF Rs.25,000/- IN BRIBERY CASE.

The Court Shri Ajit Pal Singh Additional Sessions Judge Fazilka convicted accused Dharamveer accountant of Civil Hospital, Fazilka. The complainant of the case was running a canteen in the Civil Hospital, Fazilka. As per Government National Health Mission, free diet is provided to the pregnant ladies for delivery at Civil Hospital, Fazilka. The complainant was providing the free diet to the pregnant ladies under Janani Surakhsa Sewa Karyakaram Scheme of National Rural Health Commission. The accused being the accountant demanded bribe from the complainant for clearing the bills pertaining to supply of diet etc. the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and a trap was laid and the accused was caught red handed while accepting the bribe. After hearing the prosecution and the defence, the Court found the allegations against the accused fully proved and convicted and sentenced him to the rigorous imprisonment for five years with fine of Rs.25,000/-. The Court also observed that in case of non payment of fine, the convict shall further undergo imprisonment for six months
