Dr Patil Ketan Baliram, IPS, SSP Ludhiana Rural while addressing the press intimated that on dated 09.02.2019, a victim had reported to the Ludhiana Rural police that she was travelling with her friend in his car from Ludhiana toward village Issewal, when near Changna canal bridge, three youngsters riding on one motor cycle followed them and stopped their car forcibly by breaking glass of car with brick and took the victim in a vacant plot and called some more youngsters there. They gang raped the victim.

After gang rape, they demanded Rs. 1 lakh extortion money from friend of her friend via mobile phone. In this regard, FIR No.17 dated 10.02.2019 u/s 376-D, 342, 384 IPC was registered at PS Dakha. Investigation was done by special investigation team headed by the then DSP Dakha Harkamal Kaur PPS. Total investigation was Supervised by V. Neeraja IPS ADGP, NRI Wing, Punjab.
During investigation sections 364A, 354B, 379B, 397 IPC & 66E IT Act were added and Police team under supervision of DIG Ludhiana Range Ranbir Singh Khatra, IPS had arrested all the six accused in 3 days namely Jagroop Singh @Roopi s/o Malkit Singh R/o Jaspal Bangar District Ludhiana, Sadiq Ali @Sadiq s/o Abdul Khan R/o Rimpa PS Mukandpur District SBS Nagar, Saif Ali s/o Isa Ali R/o Bhadhar District Chamba Himachal Pradesh now at village paddi PS Dehlon District Ludhiana, Ajay @Brijnandan s/o Ramakant R/o Dubeparnavatra PS Parspur District Gonda Uttar Pradesh now at village Jassar Paddi PS Dehlon District Ludhiana, Liakat Ali s/o Shambudin r/o New Gujjar Basti Changrahan PS Kathua District Kathua Jammu- Kashmir and Surmu s/o Roshandin r/o khanpur PS Dehlon District Ludhiana were nominated and arrested.
After collecting all the evidence forensically, total investigation was completed in 40 days and challan was presented before the Hon’ble court. During investigation it is revealed that this gang had done serial rapes with many victims previously but nobody came forward to police till this complainant.
After duly trial of said case, Hon’ble court of Ms. Rashmi Sharma Additional Session Judge, Ludhiana has convicted all six accused on dated 28-02-2022. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced by the Hon’ble court on 04/03/2022.
