Acting CEC chairs stakeholders meeting at Drass
KARGIL, JANUARY 15, 2021: Acting Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Mubarak Shah Nagvi today presided over a meeting organized by a newly formed association namely Humas Social Welfare and Development Association Drass, Kargil to discuss various issues related to the unemployed youth of Drass area.
Councilor Bhimbat, Aga Syed Muhammad Shah, Chairman Block Development Council (BDC) Upper Drass Noor Muhammad, President of Humas Association Muhammad Yaseen, Sarpanchs and Panchs of various villages of Drass besides other stakeholders were present in the meeting.
During the course of meeting, President of Humas Association said that the main objective of the association is to assist the unemployed youth of Drass region in resolving employment issue faced by them. He expressed gratitude to the Acting CEC Mubarak Shah Nagvi and Councilor Bhimbhat Syed Muhammad Shah for their encouragement and support in formation of the association. He also demanded for engagement of unemployed youths besides machinery and equipments of the locals like JCBs, tippers etc in the Zojila Tunnel project to generate employment opportunities and income sources to the local population.
Speaking on the occasion, Acting CEC Mubarak Shah Nagvi congratulated the members of the association for bringing different stakeholders on a single platform to discuss and raise the genuine issues and demands of people of Drass. He assured all possible financial as well as logistic support to the association in resolving all genuine issues of the people of Drass and stressed on the members of the association to work dedicatedly in the interest of the common people.
EC Shah also assured that all their genuine demands of the people will be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal. He further said that in the coming days he along with the Councillor Bhimbhat Syed Muhammad Shah will call on the Lieutenant Governor Ladakh to put forth the issues of Drass area and added that members of the association will also be a part of the delegation.
Meanwhile, Councillor Bhimbat Aga Syed Muhammad Shah urged the committee to function with unity and harmony and assured his full support to the association adding that the association needs to establish a comprehensive membership exercise from all villages and stakeholders.
Pertinently, the association has been established as an umbrella body with the collective support of contractors, JCB, tipper, taxi and labor unions and other stakeholders of Drass area keeping in view the employment opportunities expected to be generated from the Zojila Tunnel Project.
Concluding the session, BDC Chairperson, Noor Muhammad appealed all participants for cooperation, coordination and consistency in the smooth functioning of the association.
