In view of upcoming Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rahul Chaba today held a meeting with the representatives of recognised political parties as per the directions of Election Commission of India, at Bachat Bhawan, here.

During the meeting, the ADC (General) said that as per the directions of Election Commission of India, due to the Covid pandemic, there will be no more than 1,200 voters at each polling station during the elections. Therefore, rationalization of polling stations is being done. The polling stations with more than 1200 votes are being adjusted and new polling stations are being set up.
He exhorted the political parties to extend fulsome support and cooperation to the district administration for conducting free, fair and transparent elections. He assured that the district administration was duty-bound to ensure smooth and hassle free polling process in Ludhiana.
Besides this, issues such as setting auxiliary polling booths etc were also discussed.
