With an aim to exhort the people especially youths to cast their votes in large numbers during upcoming 2022 assembly elections in the Punjab, the district administration on Sunday organized a relay race of students along with teachers, Booth level officers (BLOs) and supervisors in the city.

The relay race was commenced from GMT school, Jalandhar Bypass Chowk to Government Elementary Bhora to Daffodils School and ended back at GMT School. As many as 50 students of each of Government Senior Secondary School Sekhewal, and Daffodil School holding placards in their hands participated in this relay race.
Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program (SVEEP) Nodal Officer Gurdeep Singh encouraged the young voters and told them about the importance of casting vote and their voting rights. He said that each vote has its own importance and it is the duty of each resident to not only to cast their own vote only but also convince the others to exercise their franchise so that democratic process in the country gets strengthened.
He added those who have not made their vote, they can still apply for the vote by participating in special camps in all polling booths of the district on November 20 and November 21.
Prominent among present on the occasion included Supervisor Naresh Kumar, Sunny Grover, Deepak Saini, Master Trainers Sanjay Dhingra and Kuldip Garg along with their BLOs also participated in the event. The refreshment was provided to all participants.
