Rupnagar, 30 June: MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha on Thursday took up the matter of recovery of about Rs.1000 crore as per order of NGT from the contractors of illigal minining sites namely Harsa Bela, Swara and Behira during the assembly session.
Replying in session, Mines and Geology Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that it was true that no action had been taken in this case for a long time. He assured that action will be taken against all accused within 20 days and charge sheet has been issued to district mining officers and 2 general managers in this case.
Speaking in the house, Advocate Chadha said that he himself was the complainant in the case and the NGT had imposed a penalty of Rs 632 crore on the accused. Now this amount of penalty reached to around Rs 1,000 crore with an interest. However, the game of law is still being played in this case.
He questioned why the culprits of Rs 1000 crore loot have not been arrested so far. Minister Bains assured that immediate action will be taken against all accused.
Mr. Chadha said that NGT also asked for a revival of the damage caused by this illigal mining. The Minister agreed and again assured strict action for this irrepairable loss.
