12 players from Haryana get Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award
4 coaches also receive Dronacharya Lifetime Award, Dronacharya Award and Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award
Chief Minister congratulates the players and coaches on behalf of all the people of Haryana
Chandigarh, November 13: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today congratulated the winners of National Sports Awards – 2021, which were conferred upon them by the President of India, Sh. Ram Nath Kovind during a specially organized function at the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The sportspersons were awarded for bringing laurels to the state and the country by performing excellently in the Olympics and Paralympics-2020.
As many as 12 sportspersons and four coaches from Haryana have received ‘Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Lifetime Award, Dronacharya Award and Major Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement’.
Sh. Neeraj Chopra, Sh. Manish Narwal, Sh. Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Sh. Sumit Kumar received the country’s highest sports honour ‘Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award’, while Sh. Yogesh Kathuniya, Sh. Surender Palad, Sh. Singhraj Adhana, Sh. Sumit Kumar, Sh. Deepak Punia, Sh. Harvinder Singh, Ms. Monika Malik and Sandeep have been awarded the Arjuna Award.
As coaches play a significant role in improving the performance of any player, hence recognizing the same State sports coaches, Sh. Sarkar Talwar and Sh. Ashan Kumar received Dronacharya Life Time Award and Smt. Pritam Siwach received Dronacharya Award. Along with this, an 88-year-old wrestler from Haryana, Sh. Sajjan Singh received the Major Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement.
The Chief Minister congratulated and extended best wishes to all these players and coaches on behalf of the people of Haryana.
It is pertinent to mention here that the sports policy of Haryana has been appreciated not only in the country but also abroad for giving the highest prize money to the players who have performed remarkably at the National and International levels. Other provinces have also visited Haryana to follow Haryana’s sports policy.
Haryana Government is continuously committed to promote sports and today the National Sports Awards-2021 received by so many players and coaches of the state are a testimonial for the efforts of the Haryana Government to make the state a sports hub.
