Kargil, March 20, 2023: The Department of Agriculture, LAHDC, Kargil, today organized a day-long farmers’ conference/training session for the progressive female farmers of Kargil at Agriculture Hall, Kurbathang.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the farmers, DC Kargil expressed happiness that the agriculture department has taken the initiative to train farmers on progressive practices of farming.
Santosh asserted on cash crop production and said that apart from farming from fisheries and animal products revenue can be generated.
The DC said the district administration has always made attempts for the welfare of farmers and distribution of Ladakh GreenHouse provided under the Subsidy Component is a part of that vision.
He urged the farmers to take maximum benefits of such initiatives and welfare schemes to increase the production of crops for their survival and revenue generation.
Earlier, Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO), Mohammad Ali Khan thanked the dignitaries and farmers for attending the event and said the purpose of the training program is to give awareness and training related to the best practices for crop production.
He also talked about various welfare schemes and activities undertaken by the department for the welfare of farmers.
Khan said that apart from self sustenance through farming the farmers should be able to generate revenue from crop production and should be able to provide employability.
On the occasion, the farmers were given awareness about the production of Millets as 2023 is designated as the global year of Millets.
During the event, various resource persons including Principal Scientist, Dr Faizan Ahmed and Scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kargil, Dr Nasreen Fatima, Dr Rigzin addressed the farmers and gave them training about different practices of efficient and productive farming.
Principal Scientist KVK, Dr Mehdi Akhone, Principal Scientist MIAR, Dr Faizan Ahmed, Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil, Kacho Mohammad Ali Khan, resource persons from KVK Dr Nasreen Fatima, Dr Rigzin, Agriculture Extension Officers of Agriculture Department, concerned officers and a number of female progressive farmers were present during the occasion.
State Nodal Officer CSS /Office Incharge, Mohammad Hussain Khan conducted the program proceedings.
