Ambassador of USA called Governor

HIMACHAL, NOVEMBER 6

Kenneth I. Juster, Ambassador of United States of America to India called Governor Bandaru Dattatraya in Raj Bhavan on Friday and discussed cultural ties and development of tourism sector in the state.

Shri Dattatraya informed that India shares a vibrant and a century old relationship with America. He also mentioned that a big number of students from Hyderabad and Telangana have settled in different states of America and are also working in pharma and information technology sectors.

They also talked about strengthening cooperation in tourism and creating more avenues for education sector in the US, for students from the state. He shared with the Ambassador the developments in the field of tourism and education sectors other than strategic issues of border areas of Himachal with China. He told that India is well prepared under the leadership of Prime Minister Narender Modi. He also informed that Himachal is a tourism state with millions of tourists. He mentioned that last year about 1.71 crore tourists visited the state, out of which about 1.68 crores were Indians and about 3.82 lakh were foreigners. About 6.63 percent growth has been registered in 2019 against the year 2018.

“If the cultural bond in both the countries remain strong like this, then the development process would strengthen”, said the Governor. The Governor also honoured him by presenting Himachali cap, shawl and portrait of Raj Bhavan.

The Ambassador thanked the Governor for making time for the meeting and also said that it was his first trip to Shimla. He also felt that the environment in the State was positive and said that he has also visited Apple orchards in Shimla surroundings. He also invited the Governor to visit the USA. He also thanked Himachal for its principled generosity in hosting His Holiness Dalai Lama. Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary to Governor was also present on the occasion.
