Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University along with the support of Punjab Government has taken an initiative to extend the Specialized Veterinary Services through establishment of Multi-Specialty Veterinary Hospital and Regional Research & Training Centers at different locations in the State. First of its kind initiative has been taken by establishing a ‘Multi-Specialty Veterinary Hospital and Regional Research & Training Center (MSVH&RRTC) at Village Sappanwali, Abohar, Fazilka with dedicated area specific specialized services, diagnostic facility, surgical suites and a spectrum of technologies to assist clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of complex disease conditions leading to much needed respite to the farmers.
The University along with the participation of the local dignitaries, officials of the line departments and officials of the University, gracefully organized a one day, “Amrit Hariyawal Samaroh,” to commemorate the 75th Independence Day celebrations with the slogan of , “Bharat Ka Amrit Mahotsav.” About 50 participants attended the Samaroh. The plantation drive was organized in collaboration with the Gram Panchayat of village Sappanwali. Saplings of the planting material were provided by the Divisional Forest Officer, Sri Muktsar Sahib. Dr Prahlad Singh, Nodal Officer and Dr Rajnish Kumar, Veterinary Officer, RRTC Kaljharani. Gram Panchayat Sappanwali members participated along with Sh Balram, the Sarpanch. Officers from the district Animal Husbandry – Dr Mandeep Singh and Dr Parteek Godara represented the Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry, Abohar. Around 500 saplings of different plant varieties (Burma Dek, Palm, Sukhchain, Neem and others) were planted by the different dignitaries and farmers of the village.
Dr Prahlad Singh, Nodal Officer expressed the gratitude and conveyed thanks to all the dignitaries and officials for participating in the Samaroh and highlighted the significance of the day in commemoration to the 75th Independence day celebrations of India (Bharat Ka Amrit Mahotsav). He ensured that the livestock requiring specialized care will be provided as the center has a mandate to impart immediate veterinary services, knowledge and technical support to livestock owners through extension. The Center also envisages the promotion of area specific need based research on production of livestock for strategic promotion and socioeconomic benefits to the farmers.
Dr Rajnish Kumar extended the vote of thanks to the representatives of the line departments and the Village panchayat to make this a successful event.
