Kargil, November 10:
Animal Husbandry Department Kargil in collaboration with ICAR-NRC Dirang organized an awareness program for Yak Herders at YBF Bodhkharboo under NRC Yak Institute STC program.
Councillor Stakchay Khangral, Padma Dorjay Numberdar, Sarpanch of the villages, Scientists from ICAR -NRCY Dirang, CAHO Kargil , Manager YBFB and a total of 100 Yak Herders associated with yak rearing from different villages participated in the program.
Dr Ashiq Hussain, Manager Yak Breeding welcomed the scientist from NRC Yak Dirang and all the Yak Herders.
Dr Paul Principal Scientist-cum-Program Coordinator and Dr Medhi, Principal Scientist ICAR-NRC Yak spoke about the activities of the institute along with the scientific management aspects of yaks for increasing its population and improvement of their productivity.
All the 100 Yak Herders were supported with basic amenities like cattle feed, solar lamp, gum boots, mineral mixture and medicine through the institute STC program.
Dr Gulzar Hussain, I/C CAHO Kargil appreciated the efforts of ICAR-NRC on Yak for organizing such program in Kargil. Councilor Bodhkharboo suggested the participants to follow up the scientific management practices as advised by scientists for better earning.
