Annapurna Utsav was celebrated at almost all 10,000 ration depots in Haryana on August 18 and 19, 2021 to commemorate the successful implementation

Chandigarh, August 25 : Annapurna Utsav was celebrated at almost all 10,000 ration depots in Haryana on August 18 and 19, 2021 to commemorate the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

Free food grains were distributed in special bags of 10 kg (12.5 kg capacity) and 5 kg (7.5 kg capacity) to 1.22 crore people in Haryana.

This Utsava was celebrated with great enthusiasm on both the days.  ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana’ implemented under the guidance of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi has proved to be of great help to the needy during COVID-19 and has emerged as a big relief for every family.

An official spokesperson said that it had come to the notice of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department that spoilt/ rotten wheat had been supplied at some depots of Sonipat, Karnal and Kaithal for ‘Annapurna Utsav’ which had been further distributed by the concerned depot holders thereby tarnishing the image of the department .

Taking strict action in this regard, the department has suspended Sh. Rohit Malik, Inspector, Sonipat, Sh. Deepak Kumar, Inspector, Kaithal and Sh. Naveen Kumar, Inspector, Karnal (now Hisar) with immediate effect and charged them as well.

The spokesperson said that the headquarters of these employees have been fixed at Panipat, Kurukshetra and Fatehabad during the suspension period.  Besides this the supply of essential commodities of the concerned depot holders, who received spoiled/rotten wheat and distributed to the beneficiaries and tarnished the image of the department would be suspended with immediate effect and strict action will be taken under the PDS Control Order, 2009 against them.  Directions have been issued to District Food and Supplies Controller, Sonipat, Karnal and Kaithal to take the required action.

The spokesperson said that if such action comes to the notice of the department in any other district also, then strict action will be taken against the concerned as per rules.
