Gone are the days when learning was restricted to well-defined physical rooms, often referred to as “classrooms”. Today, with the help of technology, anyone can learn what the heart wants, at their own pace, at its convenient time, at the click of a button. The world has become a classroom today with the advent of technology making educational platforms that see millions of customers on a daily basis. Some who use these platforms to supplement their traditional classroom learning while others use such platforms to learn a new skill.
Classroom Teaching Mix
For example, if we look at the West, they complement their teaching with a mix of classroom teaching combined with using digital platforms to better understand their students. You don’t need to refer to many books, make notes, or anything like that. While there are a handful that adapt to changing methods of learning, the majority still stands with the old-fashioned criterion of learning and still believe that using technology is limited to PowerPoint presentations in classrooms.
Impact Of Covid-19 On Education Sector:
The best example to understand this is the current crisis we are facing. We can clearly see the difference of a digital platform in such a situation. Countries outside the West are taking measures to curb the epidemic, assuring that their students do not suffer as they are designed to enable students to learn digitally.
This is not the case in India. Although some schools and colleges can be proud that they have their students adapt to it, most are adamant on how they will ensure their students complete the syllabus that semester.
The crisis has, in a way, come as a silver lining for institutions to pay attention to the importance of digital learning and to ultimately make them understand that such platforms can never replace the traditional way of learning.
We need to understand that digital platforms and technology are a tool that has made our lives easier and has enabled us to better communicate and perform.
