Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla raised the issue of privatization and looting by airlines in Parliament yesterday. There was also a vigorous debate on these issues with Telecom Minister Jyotiridhya Scindia and Nishikant Dubey. On which Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that the BJP government has been in power for the last 10 years, so instead of pointing fingers, why have these things not been corrected?
Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla raised the issue of illegal ticket rates being charged by airlines during the monsoon session in Parliament. He said that many needy people postpone their journey due to the robbery of airlines. He said that even after receiving the report of the standing committee on this issue on 10 August 2023, there has been no change. During the corona period, the airlines had increased the prices of air travel tickets many times, but now the increased money has not been reduced despite the situation being normal. Giving an example, Gurjit Singh Aujla said that the fare to Chandigarh is also charged 70 thousand rupees in emergency situations. He said that lakhs of people visit Amritsar but the tickets keep getting expensive without approval and tourists cannot come.
Talking about the international flights, the ticket to Singapore which international airlines gives for Rs 20,000 with hotel, the domestic airline gives one way ticket for Rs 28,000. Many people go to UAI from Punjab but Air India Express tickets from Amritsar are 25 to 35 percent more expensive than from Delhi. Amritsar is 400 km less than Delhi but the ticket is expensive. On this issue, he targeted MP Nishikant Dubey and said that if the BJP government has been in power for 10 years, then why no change has been made in it. He said that Nishikant ji started cursing the Congress in every speech, then now he has full power, then why is it not reformed.
He said that when sections like 370 are being implemented, why can’t it be changed. He said that the entire country has been privatized, the entire country has been sold in the hands of private people. He said that he supports the private bill brought by MP Shafi Parambil but it should be strictly implemented. After which Telecom Minister MP Jyoti Dharitya Scindia said that it will not be possible that ` chit bhi meri or pat bhi meri ‘. So Aujla said that when it was opposed in 2006, it was you who showed the way. Aujla said that they talked about BSNL but have they seen its condition.
Gurjeet Singh Aujla demanded that strictness has to be shown to control these things and the government should take strict steps for this by increasing the strength of the regulatory committee. They have also demanded that special concessions be given to senior citizens and a regulatory committee be formed on rates.
