Government Degree College (GDC) Drass in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Drass organized an awareness program on Tehsil Legal Services and Motor Vehicle Act in the college premises here today.
The program was attended by the Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman District Legal Services Authority Mohd Rafiq Chak, Munsif/ Additional Special Mobile Magistrate and Chairperson Tehsil Legal Services Committee Drass Deldan Angmo, Principal GDC Drass Dr Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal Higher Secondary School Drass Khursheed Ahmad, Advocate Mustafa Haji, Sub Inspector Traffic Police Muhammad Ali and staff and students of GDC Drass.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Kargil appreciated and thanked the Principal GDC Drass and the Chairperson Tehsil Legal Services Committee Drass for organizing the program for the youth. He said that the event will prove useful in educating the youth about various aspects of the Tehsil Legal Services and Motor Vehicle Act. He assured that such kind of awareness programs will be conducted on regular basis in Drass.
A question-answer session was held on the occasion where queries raised by students and participants were answered by the speakers.

Earlier, during the welcome speech, Principal GDC Drass Dr Amjad Ali Abassi gave an overview of the program. He expressed gratitude to the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Drass for organizing the legal awareness programme at the college which will help the students understand their legal rights and duties, adding he urged the students to spread the information up to the village and family level.
Advocate Mustafa Haji during his speech informed the students about the aims and objectives of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee and Motor Vehicle Act in detail.
A skit on legal awareness was also presented by the students wherein they displayed the importance of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) in educating people especially those belonging to weaker sections of the society about their legal rights.
Principal Government Higher Secondary School Drass Khursheed Ahmad spoke about the role of youth who have the potential to become the messengers to carry legal message to their homes and locality.
On the occasion, a documentary on safe driving was also screened which was followed by a brief lecture by Sub Inspector Traffic Police Muhammad Ali on traffic rules and fines imposed in case of violation of rules.
Later, the Principal District and Sessions Judge distributed certificates among all the students who performed the skit on the occasion.
