Cabinet gave approval to Haryana Airport Development Corporation to expedite works of airport
Chandigarh, August 31:
Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Manohar Lal here today accorded approval regarding incorporation of Haryana Airports Development Corporation Limited to carry out the development works of Airports/Airstrips/Helipads under the Haryana Government, as well as other important projects such as for establishing the Integrated Manufacturing Clusters under the Government of India’s Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor project scheme through a Joint Venture between the Civil Aviation Department and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd. (NICDC).
The key primary objectives for setting up the aforesaid Corporation are to manage, regulate the establishment and implement the airport projects/joint-venture projects of the State Government, for the purpose of establishing and operating Integrated Aviation Hub at Hisar and other airfields of Haryana. Besides this, the corporation will assist to operate, maintain, develop, design, construct, upgrade, modernize and manage the Airports.
Further, the Corporation will also assist in purchasing/ procuring/acquiring of land for renovating, expansion and managing the Airports , including all assets and infrastructure such as runways, taxi – ways, aprons, terminals for the passengers, provision of cargo amenities, ancillary buildings to provide aeronautical activities and services.
Besides this, the Corporation will also undertake, identify, formulate, design, develop structure, engage in project development, project financing, project monitoring, establishment, strengthening, up gradation, repair, rehabilitation, improvement, operation, construction, maintenance and implementation of the Integrated Aviation Hub at Hisar and other airfields/airports of the Haryana, either directly or in public – private partnership ( PPP ) mode.
In addition to this, the Incorporation of Haryana Airports Development Corporation Limited will assist to procure, implement, operate and maintain schemes, projects, programmes, concessions and other contractual arrangements on a commercial format, for the provision and development of the projects and the infrastructure facilities. Additionally, to undertake planning, development, operations and maintenance and disposal of land and built – up areas on the project site under Civil Aviation Department in conformity with the applicable laws , specifications and standards.
It is worth mentioning that on July 07, 2017, Haryana Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India to implement the Government of India’s Regional Connectivity Scheme. Additionally, Government of Haryana is also working on a proposal to develop Integrated Manufacturing Clusters (IMC) in the city side area of Maharaja Agrasen Airport, Hisar , under the Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor Project (AKIC) Scheme of the Government of India, for which approximately 1605 acres of land has already been identified for Phase – I of the IMC project . The IMC Project will be implemented through a joint venture between the Civil Aviation Department and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd.
