Briefs Media on overall management of Covid-19 in the district
BANDIPORA , MAY 25: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad on Tuesday briefed the media about the status of Covid-19 pandemic, preparations and the mitigation measures in the district.
Addressing the media, Dr. Owais said that the administration is fully prepared to deal with any situation and all requisite arrangements have been put in place while the healthcare infrastructure is being updated and augmented with every passing day.
Dr Owais said as on date there are 1217 active positive cases in the district out of whom 118 patients are hospitalized in different levels of covid hospitals. He said 42 active patients are on additional Oxygen support. He said there is no shortage of oxygen as oxygen supported beds are fully functional at Level-III hospital and other covid designated hospitals across the district.
The DC said that the patients who are under Home Isolation are being taken care of and medical kits have been provided to them and their regular check-ups are being conducted by the field staff. He said the administration has also deputed a psychologist to counsel the Covid-19 positive patients to overcome the stress and anxiety while they are staying in isolation.
Dr Owais said that the administrations in a process of further augmenting healthcare system and added that 5-bedded Covid Care Centres (CCCs) are being established in each Panchayat with an aim to strengthen the health infrastructure in rural areas amid the 2nd wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
He said one among the 5 beds will be an oxygen supported bed for immediate patient care at village level.
Elaborating on the status of Vaccination campaign in the district, the DC said that 73 percent of vaccination of people above 45 years of age is completed and appealed the rest to get vaccinated at the earliest adding that sufficient doses of vaccination are available in the district.
Regarding Corona curfew, DC said that corona curfew stands extended till 31th May, 2021 and complemented the general public for adhering to Covid-19 SOPs and guidelines as ordered in the district and said that it has proved instrumental in bringing down the positivity rate in the district.
